Lawn Renovation

Sometimes the only economical solution is to just start over. This is usually the result fro years of neglect and often misuse of the lawn that has compacted the soil to make it extremely difficult to rebuild.

In such cases we can handle a complete lawn renovation where the old sod is removed, amendments are worked into the existing soil that helps create a better growing environment, and the ground is properly leveled and sloped for proper drainage.

Sod

Sodding

Once the old sod is removed and the soil is amended, you have the option of either going with new seed or having a sod installation.

The sod installation can usually be done in one day. It is fast, with instant results. Sod does require frequent watering during the first few weeks and months to insure that roots extend into the amended soil.

Seeding

Applying seed is a less costly option, but it takes longer to see results. Like sod, seeding also requires frequent watering, especially during hot weather, which may require multiple watering twice a day until the seed germinates.

Seed has the disadvantage of having weeds germinate that have been lying dormant in the soil for perhaps many years. During the first growing season, these weeds may not be able to be controlled because of the tender nature of the new turfgrass. However, once new turfgrass has matured, the weeds can then be controlled. New seeded lawns usually take about 1 year for complete maturity and acceptable density.
